Field Notes

Description:

Similar to the Australian Welcome Swallow. Flight is swift; it chases insects with banking and turning, often swooping close to the ground, or skimming the surface of water.

Habitat:

Open country towns, often near water; tends to be noticed when perched on overhead wires in line with other swallows.

Notes:

Info is from the 'Michael Morcombe Field guide to Australian Birds' second edition. A great book for all wildlife photographers or bird watchers in Australia.
