Field Notes

Description:

At one time, the beautiful plumes of the Snowy Egret were in great demand by market hunters as decorations for women's hats. This reduced the population of the species to dangerously low levels.
Now protected in the USA by law, under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, this bird's population has rebounded.

Thank you Emma - they are lovely.
Thank you Kat--the website is great--very good information.
You have some beautiful shots. I found a snowy egret today, but I had him labeled little egret and I knew that wasn't right considering what info I was reading. Then I found this site and I knew I was on to something. http://www.surfbirds.com/namericanbirds/heron-egret.html
Now I know, thank you Antonio!
I learned here in noah, whith Alice,Emma and Liam, they allways focus this particular point, yellow feet confirm the id in this species and in the european cousin the egretta garzetta:)
