Mini Ping-pong bats
Dictyopanus pusillus
-37.8812, 145.342
Field Notes
Description:
Tiny bracket fungi described as "mini ping-pong bats" in serried ranks on the bark of a giant gum tree.
The colour of these fungi was pale cream with a slightly darker cap. Stems appear to be lateral and the underside had large pores.
Habitat:
Tall Eucalyptus forests
Notes:
These fungi are attractive in their appearance and arrangement on the tree trunk. I apologise for the quality of the photos-could not get a proper foothold along tree base to get close enough.
I am hoping my ID for this fungus is accurate - the description and distribution seem to fit...
have replaced two photos with others I just found .
