Field Notes

Description:

Slender with a narrow head and a long, slender tail that can be twice as long as the rest of the lizard. Color can range from brown to bright green. Each animal can change its color to blend with surroundings. Males have a pinkish colored dewlap which is displayed when attracting females or for territorial displays. It is commonly referred to as a "chameleon" due to its ability to change color, but not a true chameleon.

Habitat:

Trees and shrubs but can be found on walls or fences.

Notes:

These lizards eat small insects such as crickets, spiders, grasshoppers and moths. They like to lay in the sun on branches or on leaves of plants.
