European Black Pine

Two needles per cluster with a lenght of about 5 to 24 cm. Young trees have yellowish-brown bark, but this darkens as the tree grows. Old trees have distinctive, furrowed bark colored with patches of brown, white and gray. the ceown shape often changes from slender, covering most parts of the stem (young trees) to a wide top crown with almost horizontal branches and leaving most of the stem bare (old trees).
