Field Notes

Description:

A sweet crabapple tree here in the college gardens. Its plaque is also now inaccurate, as the Genus listed is Pyrus, which is considered invalid. I'm sure the fruit is edible, but my family telling me how toxic they are has made me wary to try.

Habitat:

Native to the Great Lakes region, but can be found as far south as here in Kansas and some other States.
