Field Notes

Description:

Tiny legs; and all these lizards (about 1/2 dozen) we saw had rather blunt tails. Each was approx 3 inches long and had shiny skin/scales. Easy to approach.

Habitat:

We found several of these lizards on the roadside at dusk, on Hindmarsh Island, S. Australia. Agricultural land in the process of being rehabilitated with native plants. In proximity to marsh land, near brackish water of the Murray River mouth. Not sure what they were feeding on, but an abundance of millipedes, ants, snails, beetles present.
