Field Notes

Habitat:

Cane Creek Reservoir

Notes:

The reddish color of this individual is confusing me regarding an ID. It was very small and unfortunately I didn't get a frontal view.

Species ID Suggestions

This color is most common amongst American toads but does occur in fowlers toads
Thanks for looking, Ashley. I compared the photos with identified species for some time and just couldn't decide.
Unfortunately the cranial crests aren't very developed on this guy yet, making ID very difficult. It's either a Fowler's toad or Southern toad, and to tell the 2 apart you would need to see the cranial crests to see if there are enlarged knobs or not.
