Description:
Adults are small and easily overlooked. The upperside is blue in males & dark brown in females with blue scaling limited to the wing bases. H. ceraunus astenidas has two submarginal eyespots on the hindwing, compared to only one in H. ceraunus.
Habitat:
Southern U.S. - South America, West Indies. Roadsides, scrubs, meadows, open woodlands. Host Plants: Legumes such as Partridge Pea (Chamaecrista fasciculata) and Indigo (Indegofera spp.)
