Field Notes

Description:

Dark grey flycatcher, smaller and slimmer than Robin, with white front, a triangular-shaped head and a white band at the end of the tail. Catches insects in flight. Aggressive bird, it will chase much larger birds away from the vicinity of the nest. Perches in the open. Call is loud and harsh.

Habitat:

Open habitat, especially grassland, old fields with hedgerows.
