Field Notes

Description:

Salticidae; Heliophaninae; Carrhotus sannio Thorell, 1877. This little spider was moving around, hunting for prey on a small tree in our backyard. The tree was heavily infested by a swarm of Locusts, mentioned in https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/206200229... All of these Locusts were far too big to fall prey to this little spider. However, it looked very robust and extremely healthy, other than the fact that he seems to have lost one leg. So, I can only assume that he was thriving in that habitat.

Habitat:

This Jumping Spider was spotted in our backyard on a young Lime (Citrus aurantifolia) locally known as Dayap.
