Wood Duck

Wood Ducks have a boxy, crested head, a thin neck, and a long, broad tail. Males are iridescent chestnut and green, with ornate patterns on nearly every feather while the graceful females have a distinctive profile and delicate white pattern around the eye. What makes the Wood Duck unique is that unlike other water birds, Wood Ducks prefer to perch and nest in trees and can be found flying through wooded areas.
