Field Notes

Description:

These plants have a thick steam, with hairy and succulent leaves disposed in rosette. The dead leaves instead of falling, remain in the stem, protecting it. These physiological adaptations are related to the hard conditions (low temperature, high UV radiation, water scarcity).

Habitat:

Altitude 800 - 4020 msnm
Temperature 4 - 21º C
