Low plant with clusters of white flowers that are striped with pink. Flowers have 5 petals with 5 stamens and pink anthers.

Habitat:

Growing on the edge of a meadow.

Notes:

This plant grows from a underground tuber, which early American colonists and Native Americans used for food. The tubers have a sweet, chestnut-like flavor.
