Description:

The American Coot is a gray, duck-like bird with a white bill and frontal shield and lobed toes. Coots move on open water like ducks and often feed with them. They feed by diving to the bottom of the water, eating off the surface, grazing on land near shore, or by stealing food from other aquatic birds.

Habitat:

This Coot was found swimming in Spring Lake located in San Marcos, TX.
