Gulls have a long (and apparently successful!) breeding season on our bay.

That makes sense, fooled me because of size and how many immature grey-feathered gulls are around now, but when I walked down that beach the Heermann's were all grouped together in a way I don't see juvenile Westerns do.
Looks more like a combination of Heermann's Gulls (smaller individuals with sooty heads and dark bodies) with a lighter and larger Glaucous-winged Gull.
