Description:

A member of the order Orthoptera (grasshoppers, et. al.), this "jumping stick" insect resembles a cartoon character. Living up to its scientific name, the head is enlarged and resembles a child desperately in need of braces.

Habitat:

Found on vegetation in the Amazon rain forest, Bulbosa is a herbivorous, grasshopper-like insect. Usually found on lower branches of shrubs and trees.

This is the disadvantage of vernacular names. The locals referred to this as a "jumping stick", which is why I had the common name in parentheses. I, personally, think of stick insects as being those individuals in the order phasmatodea. Scientific names eliminate such confusion! Viva Linnaeus!!!

This is no stick insects or phasmid. This is an adult male of a species which belongs the Family Proscopiidae Audinet-Serville, 1838
