Thank you so much bayucca. It's probably the same species and native to Southeast Asia (well, according to wiki). I see it being grown in many places here in Sabah; and many a times, I would stop short a while to admire its beauty.
I know this beautiful flower from Costa Rica: Crepe ginger (Cheilocostus speciosus). But I think you might have other species in Malaysia. I am sure somebody can help with the exact species from your area.
