It seems to depend on the source whether it is considered a separate species, or not. Do you know of a better photo of a male passerini? I was pretty sure the males were Cherrie's, so that would make the females the same. This was just outside La Fortuna if that helps at all
I think the Cherrie's Tanager is a separate species and is only found along the Pacific-slope.
Thanks, Liam! Looking at my photos, I kind of wondered(beak and general body shape), but I didn't find any conclusive links that showed both genders
