This flower has a peculiar mechanism for pollination. When an insect sits on the flower petal it brings out the stalk like an elephant's trunk touching the back or the body of the insect thus pollinating the vector which when visits other flowers can pollinate them for reproduction. The attractive colors help in attracting insects.
