Description:

There are two sub-populations in Eastern and Southern Africa.

Habitat:

They live in a variety of habitats, such as coastal deserts, savannahs and grasslands.

Notes:

This was taken during a day's visit to the Etosha National Park in Namibia.

It really is survival of the fittest!
Animals' hunting methods can seem cruel indeed. On the other hand, these canids mate for life and the older pups often stay around to protect the young when the parents are away. And lions, leopards and hyenas will go after their young.
I think these are such beautiful animals but I found their hunting techniques upsetting. They target gravid antelope & stalk them as they are giving birth often ripping the calf out as soon as the head emerges killing the mother in the process. It's nature I know but one of the aspects I don't enjoy.
