Field Notes

Description:

Large tropical beetle with enlarged front legs, and exceptionally large antennae. Its body can exceed 3" in length. Wing cover has ornate "harlequin" pattern of orange, black and green.

Habitat:

Feeds on tree sap.

Notes:

This specimen was photographed in Nauta, Peru. They are common in the Amazon rain forest.
