Field Notes

Description:

Large, web-building spider with a legspan of 6-9 cm. Cephalothorax and abdomen have a silvery white color. Legs range from yellow to pink to orange, with darker bands.

Habitat:

Found in woodlands and grasslands of Loreto district of Peru.

Notes:

Spiders in the genus Argiope are known for their large webs, which often have a "signature" zig-zag marking in the middle.
