Description:
This male sawfly belong to the same order as wasps and bees, Hymenoptera, but one of the main differences, apart from the lack of waist, is that they have no sting. The thorax is predominantly black, only the pronotum and scutellum are yellow. The abdomen is black, with transverse bands of yellow. The leading edge of the forewings, including the veins, is orange colored. The body length is up to 15 mm. It can be identified by its orange antennae. Tenthredo vespa, of the same genus, has also a few yellow bands on the abdomen but has black antennae https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/2004291886.
Habitat:
Forest edge on low hanging leaves.
