Field Notes

Description:

Bird of prey attaining an adult length around 50 - 80 cm, and a wingspan of up to 170 cm.

Habitat:

Widespread throughout Oklahoma, it is not uncommon to seen them perched on top of utility poles along the road at a rate of one or two per mile! They inhabit grasslands, woodlands, and desert areas.

Notes:

Keen sense of vision allows this hunter to spot the smallest of prey from great distances!
