Thanks! An it's in Saskatchewan Canada so I don't know what type of bat it is
I'm happy this little guy recovered. We had the same thing happen with a bowl of water that we had been using to wash the car. Luckily the bat survived. Welcome to Project Noah Selina!
Kudos on saving this fellow! This looks like it could be a big brown bat (Eptesicus fuscus), but without any size comparison I am unable to differentiate it from little brown bat. http://www.batcon.org/index.php/all-about-bats/species-profiles.html?task=detail&species=1890&country=43&state=28&family=all&limitstart=0 Here is a link for a wildlife escape ramps for water troughs/tanks that may give some ideas on preventing this from happening: http://www.or.nrcs.usda.gov/programs/sage-grouse/fy11/data/SGI_Escape_Ramps_Fact_Sheet.pdf
Thanks! Poor thing. If I hadn't looked in my barrel it would've drowned...
