Well, during the trip I have heard from an investigator that some wolves released in US were returned because they have attacked cattle in repeated times. Then were used for breeding and to maintain the genetic variety of the specie.

Actually is a "she" and the history is this: By over 30 years, the mexican wolf was declared extinct in México (quite ironic, don't you think?). Thats why, in an common effort among academy, goverment and ngo´s was created the proyect for the rescue of this prioritary species for conservancy. In october´s past year were liberated a group of five wolfs (the herds of mexican wolf are smaller than the gray wolf packs) in a discret location in northern of México's territory. This is the first intent for recover the specie and, of course, the related ecosystem along my country. The collar shown in the photography is a satellite tracker for the safety and control of the group of animals (the ranchers weren't very happy about the reintroduction of the wolf). I hope that the mexican wolf will survive.
