Yes, Karen. I know what you mean. I must have taken that first picture just at the right moment. The light reflecting off the snow I assume is the reason for bright red underneath.
Lovely series! I was watching the cardinals in the snow here yesterday but unfortunately the light was to poor for a decent photo.
