Field Notes

Description:

On november 14,2011 our science class went outside
to search for mushroom to try and identify. The area we explored was a wooded area along the entrance to the school complex. This area had several types of trees including white pine trees, white birch trees, oak trees, and beech trees. We have had more rain than unusual during the time of year then usual making the variety of mushrooms plentiful. This particular mushroom was located at the base of several pine trees. I believe the mushroom we have identified is the Bolbitius vitellinus.
