Field Notes

Description:

A large shrub or small tree of dense, weeping habit reaching a height of 5-8 metres. Flowers are pale yellow balls appearing in spring. Fruiting pods are 4-6 cm long and 5 mm wide. It has become the home for some of our brush tailed possums. This nest is about 50cm across, very chaotic with apparently little shelter.

Habitat:

Restricted to a small area south of the ranges in eastern Victoria, Australia. Tree now used as a garden species.

Notes:

Sticky when handling. This plant grew to 6 metres in 3 years.
