Field Notes

Description:

Foliage roosting insectivore. Rarely observed roosting in caves. This species has been known to give birth to four individuals at a time.

Habitat:

Woodlands. Often observed feeding near street lamps.

Notes:

Known to overwinter on the ground during temperatures less than 10 C in the Midwest.

This species, along with hoary bats and silver-haired bats, make up the majority of bat fatalities found at wind farms within North America. http://www.batcon.org/index.php/what-we-do/bats-and-wind-energy.html
