Field Notes

Description:

It measures 11 cm. and weighs 5.8 grams.
It is a medium-sized hermit, with a strong contrast between dark throat and chest bright, tail is rounded base and white tip.

Habitat:

Rainforest (up to 600m in the caribbean and 800 in the pacific of Costa Rica, it is found in all Central America , Panamá, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela.

bayucca, very close to this ginger I saw the White-tipped Sicklebill, check the pic: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8509816 this is hard to photograph, so I will try again in my next visit to the arenal area.
I guess the plant/flower are remnants of Etlingera elatior, Torch Ginger?
