Thank you Ashley for the ID, the link and the interesting info.
These guys are so variable! This does look like a toad because of the warty skin, but canyon tree frogs can have warty skin as well. You will notice the tympanum has an angled fold past it, which doesn't always mean tree frog but is a good indication of one. Also, this frog does not have cranial crests or paratoid glands, another indication it isn't a toad :)
