Thanks Liam. Hi Daniele...thank you for looking into it... I did look at the list from Liam's link and could not figure it out. I will look under genus Ploceus.
Hi July! Liam is right, it is a weaver. The genus is Ploceus. My sub-Saharan bird guide lists 52 species in this genus! What seems to be characteristic of this one is that it has some red in the eye and under the chin. Still, I looked at all of those found in the Nngongoro area and I can't find a match. Maybe someone else will have more luck... Maybe a hybrid or a very localized race? You can also try to post it to www.birdforum.net
Still can't figure out which species of Weaver it is! Any ideas?

a finch maybe.. female..not a lot of color.. Nice shot
