Description:
A humble pigeon is showing its beautiful iridescent green neck in a sunny spot. Feral pigeons can show a variety of plumages. They are issued of a cross between escapee domestic pigeons and rock pigeons, but some have the same double- barred pattern as the pure rock pigeon. Feral pigeons are found in large numbers in cities and towns all over the world. The pure wild species is often found in mountain regions.
Habitat:
This pigeon was part of a large flock hanging out at a small harbor on Lake Geneva. Blurred in the background of the second shot are the mute swans from the previous spotting.
Notes:
A distinctive white cere is located on top of the pigeon’s beak.
