I would say its in the Cryptophis genus, either a small eyed or carpentaria snake, though on your far away shot it tends to resemble a Furina barnardi with the head slightly darker than the body. try this site: http://www.arod.com.au/arod/reptilia/Squamata/Elapidae/Cryptophis
Definitely open to suggestions, what else could it be with that white belly? It was around a metre in length.
lovely snake but not sure its a slaty-grey the head scales and eyes are wrong
