Pretty common to see at my backyard feeders! Thought it was a sparrow, but definitely a house finch.

I'm sure you will! :)
MIchele and Karen... I'm going to have to keep a better eye out in the spring/summer and maybe I'll see a few males with a bit of red!
Vee, I have a lot of these guys & I've noticed the juveniles seem to hang out together in large flocks & the juvi males do look similar to females! They sometimes come right up on our deck rails - so cute!
That link threw me off a bit Cynthia as I've never seen a male then! But I found a few other pictures that convinced me! (like this one http://www.pbase.com/bmullen/image/87889568) Thank you though! : )

Yea.. nevermind.. the more pictures I look at online of house finches, the more I definitely think this is one! haha. Thanks for the help!! I guess they hang out with sparrows sometimes, and I've never seen a male house finch!!
I added 2 more pics so you can see the back of the bird as well!
The males are all brown and have darker brown markings.. that's what made me think it wasn't a finch, but a house sparrow. Do finches and sparrow ever flock together? (These guys also never eat thistle/nyjer seeds, which I thought finches DO eat!)
It's definitely a finch Emma judging by the beak!
Thanks Sachin! Karen and Liam... I don't think it's a house finch (I'm no expert though!). The reason I say that is because they come in flocks of like 50 birds, and there must be males among them, but they definitely don't have any red on them. I need to dig up or take some pictures of the males.. that will probably help with ID!
Looks like a female house finch http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/House_finch/id
