Thank you. BTW you'll want to change the reference link :-)
Thanks everyone for the input. The info has been changed.
Yeah I also think its Cape Periwinkle- Catharanthus roseus
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jayjayc/5458858256/ Cape Periwinkle.
The leaves definitely look just like that of periwinkle. And also Impatiens wallerana is a balsam and the flowers in this photo does not look like that of balsam [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impatiens_w... ] , So I also think that it is Periwinkle and not Impatience.
This looks like a Catharanthus flower to me, and especially the leaves which have a prominent light-colored midrib, are ovoid and shiny and have a non-serrated edge. Impatiens leaves seem to be pointed and serrated. http://www.alabamaplants.com/Pinkopp/Catharanthus_roseus_page.html
Good Photography. I have seen a lot Periwinkles but never heard of Impatiens, such great resemblance is really cool and amazing .
Thank you @ HansNew! The sprinklers had just turned off when I walked up with my camera.
loevely shot, most of all the water pearls on it
From what I've read, impatiens are great shade flowers and periwinkles/vincas are sunny area flowers. They do resemble each other and are both annuals.
