Spiny-tailed Iguana - young

Also commonly called the Black iguana. Most have black mottling on their back & their underbody is usually off-white. The tail is ringed with specialized spiny scales. The young iguanas may be primarily insectivorous, evolving into more herbivorous habits as adults. Spiny-tailed iguanas tend to be ill-tempered and not tameable like their bigger, green iguana (Iguana iguana) cousins.
