Field Notes

Description:

This bird had found a paring knife, presumably discarded or forgotten by careless people, on the beach. It was picking up and dropping the knife, often picking it up by the blade. Testimony to the need for people to be much more careful when they are onshore and to be sure they are taking all their possessions with them.

Habitat:

Topsail Island

Notes:

20 September this year is International Coastal Clean-up Day; we can all contribute by helping pick up trash on coasts and shores of waterways.
