Description:

This is the male. You can tell because his red mow hawk goes from the back of his neck to just above the bridge of his beak. You'll see a little white separation between the red and the orange-red above the beak. Also, this one might actually be two...as the coloring around the eye is more orange in some of the shots.

Notes:

I hear two distinct thump-thump-thumps in my neighborhood. One is in my back yard in an old tree & I have made many posts of that home's progress. There are also some Red-bellies that fly across my street - away from the nest I know where it is. So there might be more than one pair visiting the suet feeders.

Thanks you Sachin for your nice words. I'm glad you enjoy the spottings. I enjoy making them and sharing. I love Project Noah for giving the chance to share what I see. It's a great place.
Heather Miller, you are having very wonderful collection,
Thanks Tim. I am enjoying them. There is a pair building a home in a dead tree in my backyard and I'm super excited about seeing babies maybe.
One of my favorite birds! Nice pic!
