Habitat:

City park. Grass field. Dry Storm water basin.

Notes:

I have counted as many as 25 of these birds in the city park/storm basin at one time. they have been there almost everyday for a week.

Long-billed Curlew

Whimbrel

Numenius phaeopus

Long-billed Curlews and Whimbrels are very similar. I have to agree with Long-billed Curlew here for two reasons: 1. bill size is much too long for Whimbrel 2. Whimbrels show a distinct, demarcated facial pattern, obviously not on your bird.
