Description:

The giant leaf-footed bug, or acanthocephala declivis, is an arthropod in the species A. declivis, and the genus Acanthocephala. It is a species of North American true bugs. It is the largest of its genus in the range it lives in, growing between 28mm and 34mm in length. They are not harmful to humans, but in large amounts can do some damage to gardens, as their main food source is leaves and some fruits. Like most insects, giant leaf-footed bugs overwinter when it gets cold.

Habitat:

It’s habitat ranges from the southern United States to Guatemala and some Caribbean islands. They can be found in wood piles, palm fronds, barns and other buildings, citrus or juniper trees, peeling bark, and other protected areas.
