Description:

This cockroach measures nearly 4" long. Taken at night next to a street lamp. It is so large that you can note the sand/dirt granules on its' body.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica 8 weeks into the 6 month dry season

Boy Keith, I wish I could. I have only seen them in an inactive state, resting somewhere like in these photos.

Hi Keith! I am not sure which species this is. Although I shoot a few times a week I only see these giant roaches a few times a year. Each time I see them they are usually sedentary. This speciman was sighted during the dry season. Maybe it was foraging dying animals around the street lamp where I shot it. By this time of the year the final water supplies are drying up.
Is this blaberus giganteus or fusca? Any way you could join allpet roaches forum would love video and info about wild specimens so we can better care for captive raised feeders

What about Blaberus sp.? There is a Blaberus giganteus in Costa Rica. But I am not very familiar with these guys.
