Wildlife Spotting

Ig, I suggest this is a plant hopper, similar to cicadas but different. Here are three technical differences. Plant hoppers and leafhoppers have antennae organs UNDER their eyes seen in your spotting and both species here http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_planthoppers/Eurybrachyidae.htm and very well here http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_planthoppers/Lophopidae.htm Secondly, planthoppers have arboreal nymphs (see also the antennae) http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_planthoppers/index.html while cicadas have subterranean nymphs. Thirdly cicadas have three central extra eyes as you can easily see in any close cicada shot. I hope this is interesting for you. These are very complex and require good macro and references but as we all love learning, its worth the effort.
