Small, round, jagged-edged leaf, dark stem fern. See notes for warning regarding Oak!

Habitat:

Rocky and shady area under oak tree on trail at Daley Ranch.

Notes:

This is native to California BUT it "is a carrier of Sudden Oak Death which is caused by the fungus-like oomycete, Phytophthora ramorum. The USDA enforces an import control, focusing intensely on areas (CA, OR, NY in U.S.A.) that are infected with Sudden Oak death." - Wikipedia
