Description:
Toxic plant with big, beautiful pink flowers (12 cm) and glossy green leaves. The flowers have 3-4 sepals and 5-6 pink-magenta petals.
It grows in meadows, pastures and in the undergrowth of oak forests (Q. pyrenaica, Q. illex, Q. suber or Q. faginea).
One of its main threats is caused by the collection for ornamental purposes due to the great beauty of its flowers, although it is blamed to produce headaches when smelling it in closed places.
It is an endemic plant of the Iberian peninsula.
Habitat:
Spotted at an open oak forest (Quercus pyrenaica). Reserva de la Biosfera del Real Sitio de San Ildefonso-El Espinar.
