Field Notes

Description:

Large adult female, brown with yellow markings.

Habitat:

This one lives in our pond but they can be found in lakes, slow-flowing streams and other still bodies of water with soft bottoms and abundant aquatic vegetation.

Notes:

I looked out the window yesterday and saw this turtle digging near my flower bed..I didn't want to disturb her laying eggs so I just hung back and watched...it was awesome...she laid at least 9 eggs while I watched but I am sure she had already deposited others before the time I got outside!!
