Field Notes

Description:

A bright brown patterned butterfly very common in summer.
This was found on an olive tree

Habitat:

Open woodlands and grasslands of southern Australia.

Notes:

Males emerge first and the females (illustrated) emerge later. Surviving males are the strongest and get to mate. Their emergence appears to be getting earlier each year, attributed to warming climate patterns.
