A little bit out of the range of the start group, but it's growing! Let's think global! Please, join the new mission of European butterflies and moths and post all your corresponding spottings. We need a lot of people which would join the group to make it global! Thanks and best regards from Switzerland! http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8574613
Colias croceus is wellknown as a migrant butterfly in whole Europe. Madeira is a special island, so it might be that there are some migrants from the mediterranian area from Portugal, Spain or Northern Africa or even a resident population. There are also some endemic species (see link). I put the accepted common name (coming from the French Postillon), sometimes it is also called Dark Clouded Yellow (for example species from Asia). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colias_croceus http://hiilosmaa.com/colcro.php?pg=bu
